OnePlus to Offer DC Dimming Feature With the Upcoming Oxygen OS Beta Update

Recently, OPPO posted a teaser video showing the DC dimming feature which will be introduced with its upcoming OPPO Reno smartphone running on the latest ColorOS 6. Now, Pete Lau, CEO of OnePlus, has confirmed to offer the same DC dimming feature for their smartphones. He posted on Weibo saying the company has been testing this new feature in the engineering demo and the tests are giving better results.

However, the DC dimming feature will be first made available for the users who are willing to test it out before rolling out publicly. The company is going with a more cautious approach and will soon introduce this feature with the beta update. Xiaomi’s newly launched Black Shark 2 gaming smartphone already comes with features. The company also confirmed to add the DC dimming feature to the recently launched Mi 9 smartphone via an OTA update.

Vivo’s iQOO will also get this feature in the coming weeks. With the DC dimming enabled, the display offers flicker-free viewing by automatically adjusting the brightness. While this technology is already used for lighting controls, it is now being adopted by smartphone brands. The DC dimming technology achieves this by increasing or decreasing the circuit power on the OLED panels. Stay tuned on PhoneRadar for more updates!
