Sirin Labs Unveils $999 FINNEY Blockchain Smartphone with Dual Displays

A couple of year’s back, the Israeli-based startup called Sirin Labs had announced its first smartphone called Solarin. It is then touted to be the most secure smartphone in the world. However, the device was late discounted and the company has shifted its focus to a new completely new smartphone. The all-new Sirin FINNEY is now officially unveiled by the company. It is currently available for pre-orders and shipping will begin in November.

The Finney is said to be the world’s first blockchain smartphone. Compared to Solarin, the FINNEY is priced reasonably well at $999. However, the buyers have to use the company’s own cryptocurrency called SRN to buy this device. The company is also offering support to get the SRN tokens along with a 10% discount on pre-orders. The device comes with a secondary display that slides-up for cryptocurrency transactions.

It is also protected by a firewall from any malicious activities like hacking. The Sirin OS built based on Android 8.1 Oreo will come with advanced security features to securely store all kind of cryptocurrencies and also helps in fee-less transactions. There is also a physical security switch for wallet protection. The company is also making the FINNEY architecture and Sirin OS available under open source licenses.

Coming to the hardware front, the FINNEY phone sports a 6-inch display with 18:9 aspect ratio. It comes powered by the flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 Mobile Platform coupled with Adreno 630 GPU. There is 6GB of RAM for seamless multitasking and 128GB of internal storage that can be further expandable up to 2TB. On the rear, is a 12MP camera with f/1.8 aperture, laser autofocus, and LED flash.

For selfies, there is an 8MP front camera with f/2.2 aperture. It is backed by a 3,280mAh battery that is mentioned to be charged from 0% to 100% in 2 hours. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.0, and NFC. There is also a fingerprint sensor for unlocking the device and securely authenticating the transactions. Sirin Labs also announced Lionel Messi as its brand ambassador.
