Huawei’s 5G-enabled Mate 20 X is the company’s first non-foldable 5G smartphone

At MWC, Huawei has showcased its much anticipated foldable smartphone – the Mate X. Amongst the tech industry, the Mate X is considered as the best implementation of foldable display technology on a smartphone when compared to Samsung’s Galaxy Fold. Besides the foldable display, the Mate X is also the company’s first 5G-enabled device hence making it one of the expensive devices in terms of a consumers’ perspective.

It still unclear how foldable displays make their way into the smartphone industry, but, we can surely say that 5G is the next advancements for smartphones starting this year and by 2020, every major smartphone maker might put their 5G-enabled flagships phones into the market. Considering these advancements, Samsung had already showcased its new 5G Galaxy S10 Plus smartphone and OnePlus has also showcased its working 5G prototype OnePlus device, which will commercially be available sometime this year.

To compete against these 5G enabled smartphones, Huawei has also unveiled its first 5G enabled smartphone – the Huawei Mate 20 X. This is the company’s non-foldable smartphone which supports 5G that appears to be competing directly with the Samsung 5G Galaxy S10 Plus. The Mate 20 X has already been released last year as part of one of their flagship line-up. The 5G-enabled Mate 20 X will also be featuring a 7.2-inch HDR Full HD+ display with a dewdrop notch on the top.

Huawei has also revealed the specifications of the 5G-enabled Mate 20 X, which is powered by HiSilicon Kirin 980 octa-core processor along with Balong 5000 5G modem – the same modem that has utilized in the foldable Huawei Mate X device. In terms of storage, the Mate 20 X is equipped with 6G of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage with microSD expansion as well.

The Mate X features triple rear cameras similar to their Huawei Mate 20 Pro smartphone. The triple cameras comprise of 40MP+20MP+8MP sensors, and the device features a 20MP selfie shooter as well. The device comes with a fingerprint sensor on the back for authentication. And, lastly, it is powered by a massive 5000mAh battery with Super Charge fast charge support. The Mate 20 X also supports Huawei’s M-Pen as well. As for the pricing and availability, the company hasn’t revealed any such details of its first non-foldable 5G smartphone.
