Motorola and Nokia Android One Phones might support the Google Pixel’s Call Screen feature

At Google I/O last year, the Mountain View tech giant has introduced the Google Duplex feature, which is an AI-based system that lets Google Assistant to carry out real-world tasks. It allowed users to book a table in offline restaurants on their behalf and the company had also demoed making a hair salon appointment using the Google Duplex as well. The feature interacts with the other person on the line with AI-based conversation algorithms that allows users to book a table or schedule an appointment. Though it was a huge step in technology advancement, it had created widespread controversy later, as Google’s AI sounded more like a human in the Google Duplex feature.

However, later in the same year, Google had introduced a new Call Screen feature with the Pixel devices, which had a similar approach as the Google Duplex. The Call Screen feature is also AI-based and combined with Google Assistant, it helps users to find out who’s calling and asks them why they’re calling and it even transcribes a copy as well. It utilizes on-device speech recognition and creates the real-time transcription of the call. The motto of the Call Screen feature was to help users to tackle with annoying unwanted calls and telemarketing calls and help them unsubscribing from the list.

Well, the Call Screen feature, as stated was introduced with Pixel 3 devices and later older Pixel devices have also joined the list, which were running Android Pie. The feature was also exclusive to US-based English speaking consumers and was recently introduced for consumers in Canada under the beta program. The Call Screen feature might also support Motorola and Nokia phones in the future, which are part of the Android One program.

A Reddit user named u/hkyq has first spotted this feature in the latest Google Phone beta app wherein he found flags mentioning the Call Screen feature for Nokia and Motorola phones and is expected for English US consumers as well, suggests the report. All the latest Motorola One and Nokia phones are under Android One program. Since they’re the ones who get the official Google’s latest Android software after the Pixel devices, we can expect the Call Screen feature to arrive for those devices as well provided if the Google allows the Call Screen outside the Googles’ device line-up.

We can expect the Call Screen feature rollout to these Motorola One and Nokia devices in the future starting from English US consumer base and later to Canada English user base as well. Stay tuned to PhoneRadar for more such interesting updates.
