Moto E5 Play Android Go Edition Smartphone Launched with 18:9 display

In April this year, Motorola launched Moto G6 and Moto E5 series smartphones. The listed of newly launched devices also include the Moto E5 Play. It is the only smartphone in the newly launched Moto E5 series to come with 16:9 display. Today, the company launched a new variant of the Moto E5 Play running on Android Oreo (Go Edition). The earlier announced E5 Play runs on full-fledged Android OS.

Another major difference is the display, the new Moto E5 Play Android Go edition sports 18:9 display. Apart from the modern 18:9 display, there are no other upgrades, but we can find quite a few downgrades to make it cost a bit cheaper. While major developers have already launched Go apps for running on Android Go smartphones, they lack many features present on their repsective full-fledged apps.

The Moto E5 Play Android Go smartphone comes with a 5.34-inch 18:9 display with FWVGA+ (960 x 480 pixels) resolution. Under the hood, it comes powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 Mobile Platform clocked at 1.4GHz and comes coupled with Adreno 308 GPU. As seen on the many other Android Go smartphones, the new Moto E5 Play also comes with just 1GB of RAM.

There is 16GB of internal storage that can be further expandable up to 128GB using a MicroSD card slot. Talking about the cameras, the device comes with an 8MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture and a 5MP front camera for selfies. Both the cameras come accompanied by a LED flash. These are the same set of cameras offered with the earlier launched Moto E5 Play. It is also splash proof with the p2i water repellent coating.

It is backed by a 2,100mAh battery which is much smaller than the 2,800mAh battery on the Moto E5 Play. The Moto dimple on the rear also features the fingerprint sensor. Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, 3.5mm audio jack, and a MicroUSB 2.0 port. It measures 147.88 x 71.2 x 9.19 mm and weighs 145 grams.
