Xiaomi is Rumored to Launch R1 Smartphone with 18:9 Full Screen Display

You are reading a story from PhoneRadar.

Earlier this month, Xioami introduced the new Y-series smartphones in India. The company is also rumored to lunch the Redmi 5A in India and Redmi Note 5 in China. While the Redmi 5A is a mere upgrade to the Redmi 4A, the Redmi Note 5A will be bringing the 18:9 display to the Xiaomi’s budget audience. Now, the latest leaks suggest the company to launch Xiaomi R1 smartphone in China with an 18:9 display.

In the last few months, we have seen several other Chinese brands launching their ever first smartphone with an 18:9 display. Xiaomi currently sells the flagship Mi MIX 2 smartphone with a three-sided bezel-less display offering 18:9 aspect ratio. Since there is no trusted source backing this, take these details with a pinch of salt. It is mentioned to sport a metal unibody design with a rear-facing fingerprint sensor.

This week, Xiaomi is expected to launch a new budget smartphone in India. The company is calling it as Desk Ka Smartphone and we expect it to be the Redmi 5A. It comes with entry-level specifications and might cost around $100. It sports a 5-inch HD (1280 x 720 pixels) display and comes powered by 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 octa-core processor. The smartphone comes with 2GB RAM and 16GB of internal storage.

There is also a MicroSD card slot for further expansion of storage up to 128GB. Talking about the cameras, the Redmi 5A offers a 13MP rear camera with f/2.2 aperture and a 5MP front camera with f/2.0 aperture. It will be backed by a 3,000mAh non-removable battery and lacks any fast charging support. The Redmi 5A also supports dual SIM dual standby using the hybrid slot. It runs on Android 7.1 Nougat based MIUI 9 out of the box.

Unlike the rumored Xiaomi R1, the Redmi 5A will be coming with the regular 16:9 display. In terms of specifications, the Redmi 5A is almost similar to the earlier launched Redmi 4A. However, the company might make few changes to the Indian variant of the Redmi 5A smartphone. While there are several leaks about the upcoming Xiaomi smartphones, let’s wait for the official confirmation from the company.
