11nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 Mobile Platform Announced with Triple Camera Support

The mid-range Qualcomm Snapdragon 600-series is only getting better and better with every new chipset. The company started using its custom Kryo CPU in the Snapdragon 600-series with the Snapdragon 660 Mobile Platform. The recently launched Snapdragon 670 Mobile Platform was built on the TSMC’s 10nm FinFET process and is built to handle the handle heavy tasks like AI processing and gaming.

At the ongoing Qualcomm 4G/5G Summit in Hong Kong, the company announced the all-new Snapdragon 675 Mobile Platform. The all-new Snapdragon 600-series chipset is built on Samsungs’s 11nm LPP process technology and comes packed with 4th-gen Kryo CPU and Adreno 612 GPU. The new Kryo 460 CPU features 2x high-performance cores clocked at 2.0GHz and 6x power efficient cores clocked at 1.7GHz.

Compared to the Snapdragon 670 SoC, the new Snapdragon 675 SoC is mentioned to offer 30% faster game launch time & 35% faster web browsing. For imaging, the chipset uses the older Spectra 250 ISP but with triple camera setup. Samsung started deploying the tripel camera setup in the mid-range segment with the Galaxy A7 (2018) smartphone and more brands should soon with their own triple camera mid-range smartphones.

It supports 4K video recording at 30 fps and also 4K video playback. On the connectivity front, it sports Snapdragon X12 LTE modem that offers up to 600Mbps download speeds and up to 150Mbps upload speeds. The Snapdragon 675 will support dual SIM dual VoLTE, Wi-Fi 2×2 MIMO & Bluetooth 5.0. This new chipset will also offer an enhanced gaming experience with the selected titles including PUBG & CrossFire Mobile.

The new Snapdragon 675 will offer smoother gameplay with software optimizations. A few games can even run at 60 fps on this mid-range chipset. It also supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 4+ fast charging technology. While the companies have just started launching devices with Snapdragon 670 Mobile Platform, we have to wait until early 2019 to see Snapdragon 675-powered smartphones in the market.
