Qualcomm will be unveiling its latest flagship mobile chipset later today at the Snapdragon Summit held in Maui. While the details of this new flagship mobile processor is very scarce till now, Techcrunch has accidentally published about the Snapdragon 855 Mobile Platform before its official announcement. Alongside the 5G-capable Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset, the company will also unveil the enhanced ultrasonic fingerprint solution.
Talking about the Snapdragon 855 Mobile Platform, the company will be revealing very little information. However, it will be the world’s first commercial mobile SoC to offer multi-gigabit 5G speeds. Compared to the Snapdragon 845, the Snapdragon 855 comes with the new multi-core AI engine that is will be offering up to 3x better AI performance. Even the AI-based camera features like AI scene detection and others will be very quick in recognition.
Just like the ‘GPU Turbo’ mode on Huawei and Honor smartphones powered Kirin chipsets, Qualcomm also introduced the new ‘Snapdragon Elite Gaming’ for an enhanced gaming experience. We should be getting more information about these features from the official launch event. While the market has already several smartphones with in-display fingerprint sensors, the company brings in the new 3D Sonic Sensors.
With these new sensors, the company will be offering under-display fingerprint scanning technology under a new called Ultrasonic Fingerprint Solution. The new sensors from Qualcomm can recognize the fingerprints even if the display is dirty or covered with a screen protector. While more in-depth details are expected to be revealed later today, the smartphones with these new technologies should be unveiled at the upcoming MWC 2018.
