Razer Phone Goes Official with 5.7″ IGZO Display, SD835 SoC & 8GB RAM

After several leaks and rumors, the Razer Phone is now officially unveiled at an event held in London. As we expected, the Razer Phone looks a lot more similar to the Nextbit Robin, but uses the premium quality materials. While the Nextbit Robin was launched for the masses, the Razer Phone is developed as a gaming-centric device and caters to a small section of users. Even with the mid-range processors, the Android smartphones can handle majority of the games available on the Play Store. However, the Razer Phone is said to provide best possible experience even while playing for a longer duration.

The Razer Phone is made up of a single slab of Aluminum with the sharp edges and corners. Talking about the top-notch hardware, there is a 5.7-inch IGZO display on the front offering Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and Wide Color Gamut (WCG). The company is using the UltraMotion adaptive refresh technology, which syncs the GPU and display to remove image tearing or lag. It even comes protected with the Corning Gorilla Glass 3. As we covered earlier, the Razer Phone comes powered by 10nm Snapdragon 835 octa-core processor coupled with Adreno 540 GPU and 8GB LPDDR4 RAM.

There is also 64GB of onboard storage that can be further expandable technically up to 2TB via a MicroSD card. In the camera department, the Razer Phone features a dual camera setup on the rear featuring a 12MP wide angle sensor with f/1.75 aperture and a 13MP zoom sensor with f/2.6 aperture. For selfies and video calls, there is an 8MP sensor on the front with f/2.0 aperture. As leaked earlier, the device will be sporting stereo front-facing speakers with dual amplifiers. Since the smartphone lacks the 3.5mm audio jack, the company is providing the USB Type-C adapter with THX-certified 24-bit DAC.

It runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box and comes pre-loaded with the Nova Launcher Prime. For the Android 8.0 Oreo update, we have to wait till the first quarter of 2018. It is backed by a 4,000mAh lithium-ion battery and supports the latest Quick Charge 4+. Though it comes with Snapdragon 835 processor, the Razer Phone misses the Bluetooth 5.0 technology. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.2, NFC, GPS, and USB Type-C port. As seen on the Nextbit Robin, the power button on the side also comes with an integrated fingerprint sensor. The Razer Phone measures 158.5 x 77.7 x 8 mm and weighs 197 grams.

Pricing and Availability of Razer Phone:

In the U.S, the Razer Phone costs $699.99 and in UK and rest of Europe, it is priced at £699.99 and €749.99 respectively. Razer has partnered with the Three Europe to sell the Razer Phone in the selected Europe markets including UK, Ireland, Denmark, and Sweden. It will be available through its official website in the U.S, Canada, UK, Ireland, Germany, France, Denmark, and Sweden. In the U.S, the smartphone is also available on Amazon.com and at selected Microsoft Stores. The pre-orders for the Razer Phone will begin today and the shipping starting from November 17th.
