Huawei MateBook X Pro With FullView TouchScreen Display Unveiled at MWC 2018

You are reading a story from PhoneRadar.

At the Mobile World Congress 2018, Huawei has officially unveiled the all-new notebook called as Huawei MateBook X Pro. It comes with a FullView touchscreen display offering 91% screen-to-body ratio. The new MateBook X Pro is also the most powerful notebook we have ever seen from Huawei. Talking about the build quality, the MateBook X Pro sports metal unibody design with Sandblast finishing and Diamond cut edges.

Coming to the display, it’s a 14-inch touchscreen LTPS display with 3000 x 2000 pixels resolution and 3:2 aspect ratio. It offers 450 nits brightness and 100% sRGB Color Gamut. The display is also protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass. Under the hood, the company is using the 8th-gen Intel i5/i7 processor with GeForce MX150 graphics card. This graphics card is said to offer 4X better performance than the integrated graphics.

With all these specs, the MateBook X Pro is powered by a 57.4Wh battery that is mentioned to give up to 12 hours of video playback. The one-touch power button comes with an integrated fingerprint sensor for lesser log-in time. It comes with a backlit full-size keyboard which is also spillproof. The glossy clickpad on the MateBook X Pro is also the largest ever offered on a 14” notebook.

With the higher screen-to-body ratio’s, the companies are placing the camera on notebooks at weird places. With the MateBook X Pro, Huawei is offering a pop-up camera. This notebook also sports quad speakers with Dolby Atmos surround sound and quad microphones with 360-degree listening. The MateBook X Pro weighs only just 1.33 kgs and comes in Space Gray and Mystic Silver color options.

Huawei is also offering a classic leather case in Red and Black color. Coming to the pricing, the MateBook X Pro with 8th-gen Intel i5 processor, 8GB RAM, and 256GB storage costs EUR 1499. The 8th-gen Intel i7 powered MateBook X Pro with 8GB RAM + 512GB storage and 16GB RAM + 512GB storage costs EUR 1699 and EUR 1899 respectively.

Editor’s Note – This looks like an interesting product from Huawei considering that the Non-Apple Computers market is actually shrinking and there are a very few players that are serious in this category. Huawei seems to compete clearly with the Apple’s MacBook Pro lineup and offer some features that we wished they offered the less bezel display and a display around 14″ and importantly the touch-screen.

That said, the computer might open up a lot of possibilities considering that the prices are almost at par with the pricing of Apple’s line-up but we are yet to know if these laptops would be introduced in the Indian market as India was not listed in the first wave market. ~ Amit Bhawani
