Sony Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact Smartphones With 18:9 Displays Leaked

Sony is expected to launch the Snapdragon 845 powered smartphones at the MWC 2018, but there is not much information about these devices till date. According to Venture Beat, the company will be unveiling the Sony Xperia XZ2 and Xperia XZ2 Compact smartphones on January 26th at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. Talking about the build quality, the devices will be coming with a curved 3D glass on the front and rear. The devices will be available in Black, Silver, Green, and Pink color options.

The Sony Xperia XZ2 and Xperia XZ2 Compact smartphones will be the first from Sony to feature 18:9 display. Compared to other flagship devices, these two devices come with relatively bigger bezels on the top and bottom. While the Xperia XZ2 comes with a 5.7-inch Full HD+ (2160 x 1080 pixels) display, the Xperia XZ2 Compact offers a 5-inch display with the same resolution. The devices will be also come with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection.

Both the devices will come powered by 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 Mobile Platform coupled with Adreno 630 GPU. The Xperia XZ2 is backed by a 3,180mAh battery, and the smaller Xperia XZ2 Compact comes with 2,870mAh battery. The devices can be charged via USB Type-C port or wirelessly. These smartphones offer front-facing “S Force” stereo speakers and additionally, the Xperia XZ2 syncs haptic feedback system to the sound.

The devices will be running on the latest Android 8.0.0 Oreo out of the box. Talking about the cameras, the smartphones will be offering a 19MP camera on the rear with f/1.8 aperture, 4K video recording, and 1080p super-slow motion. The camera component layout is slightly different on the XZ2 Compact. On the rear, we can also find the circular fingerprint sensor.
