Xiaomi Mi Max 3 Smartphone to Sport 5,500mAh Battery with Wireless Charging Support

You are reading a story from PhoneRadar.

Later this year, Xiaomi will launch the Mi Max 3 smartphone as the successor to last year’s Mi Max 2. The Mi Max smartphones offer a large display and a mammoth battery making it the perfect companion for media consuming. With the current trend of 18:9 displays, we are even more excited about the upcoming Mi Max 3. According to the XDA-Developers, the firmware files of the Mi Max 3 revealed a couple of features that will be introduced for the first time in the Mi Max lineup.

First, let’s talk about the key specifications of the device. The Mi Max 3 will be powered by the Snapdragon 660 octa-core processor with Kryo 260 cores and Adreno 512 GPU. Looking at the earlier launched Mi Max devices, we might also see another variant with Snapdragon 630 processor. As rumors suggested, the smartphone will be backed by a 5,500mAh non-removable battery. Interestingly, Xiaomi will be introducing wireless charging in the Mi Max lineup with the Mi Max 3 smartphone.

While there is no information about the screen size of this smartphone, it will surely offer 18:9 aspect ratio. However, this new feature might be limited only to the top end variant. Last year, Xiaomi joined the Wireless Power Consortium and we all are expecting the Mi 7 to be the first Xiaomi smartphone to support wireless charging. Coming to the cameras, the smartphones will offer either a Sony IMX363 single camera sensor or Samsung’s S5K217 + S5K5E8 dual camera sensors.

Talking about the selfies, the Mi Max 3 sports a single S5K4H7 sensor from Samsung. The firmware files also revealed that the device will be coming with OmniVision 2281 sensor on the front. According to OmniVision’s official website, “the OmniVision’s OV2281 is a PureCel sensor that brings enhanced biometric security functionality to mobile devices. The low-power, ultra-compact OV2281 leverages a 1.12-micron pixel with PureCel technology to enable accurate, reliable iris recognition for smartphones, tablets, and notebooks.”

However, it is mentioned to be in the development stage and we can’t confirm whether it will make its way to the final device or not. Other features of the Mi Max 3 includes dual SIM card slot, an IR blaster, LED notifications light, audio tuned by Dirac, Qualcomm’s aptX and aptX HD Bluetooth audio codecs.
