HMD Global Launches Nokia 5 with 3GB RAM in India for Rs. 13,499

The Nokia 5 was launched alongside the Nokia 3 and Nokia 6 smartphones in India in June this year. It went on sale in August for Rs. 12,499 and was equipped with 2GB of RAM. Today, HMD Global came out with an upgraded variant of the Nokia 5 with 3GB of RAM. The new variant of the Nokia 5 is priced Rs. 13,499 and comes in Matte Black and Tempered Blue color options. It is exclusively sold online through to Flipkart starting tomorrow and will be available via offline retail stores starting November 14th.

Apart from the upgraded RAM, both the variants feature the same internals. It sports a metal unibody design and offers nice grip with the curved edges. On the front is a 5.2-inch IPS display with HD (1280 x 720 pixels) resolution and Corning Gorilla Glass protection. Under the hood is the Snapdragon 430 octa-core processor clocked at 1.4GHz and comes coupled with Adreno 505 GPU. It includes 3GB of RAM along with 16GB of internal storage that can be expanded additionally up to 128GB via a MicroSD card slot.

The smartphone also supports dual SIM dual standby and offers VoLTE connectivity. It runs on Android Nougat out of the box and will soon receive the latest Android 8.0 Oreo update. Beneath the display is the physical home button equipped with a fingerprint sensor and comes accompanied with two capacitive navigation buttons for back and multitasking. Talking about the cameras, there is a 13MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture, PDAF, and dual tone LED flash. For selfies, the Nokia 5 offers an 8MP front camera with f/2.0 aperture and 84-degree field-of-view.

Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, GLONASS, FM Radio, NFC, USB OTG, 3.5mm audio jack, and MicroUSB 2.0 port. It is backed by a 3,000mAh non-removable battery that should give at least a day-long battery life. Recently, the company also launched the entry-level Nokia 2 smartphone with Snapdragon 212 SoC and 1GB of RAM. It is expected to go on sale in the next couple of weeks.
