Xiaomi Mi 6C to Launch Soon with 18:9 Display & Surge S2 SoC

You are reading a story from PhoneRadar.

A couple of years back, Xiaomi launched the Mi 4i and Mi 4c smartphones as the stripped-down variants of Mi 4 in India and China respectively. Last year, the company launched the Mi 5c powered by its own Surge S1 processor in China. Now, the latest reports reveal few key specifications about the upcoming Xiaomi Mi 6c smartphone. Unlike the Mi 6, the Mi 6c will most probably pack mid-range specifications, similar to the Mi Note 3.

The Mi 6c will also feature an edge-to-edge display with 18:9 aspect ratio. Xiaomi has recently launched the Mi MIX 2 with 18:9 bezel-less display in India. The TENAA listing also confirmed the upcoming Redmi Note 5 to sport the same 18:9 display. Based on the leaks, the Mi 6c will be featuring a 5.65-inch display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. While the Mi 5c came with Surge S1 processor, the rumored Mi 6c might come powered by Surge S2 processor.

The Surge S1 is built using the 28nm architecture and packs 4x Cortex-A53 clocked at 2.2GHz and another 4x Cortex-A53 clocked at 1.4GHz. The graphical performance of the chipset is carried over by the Mali-T860 MP4 GPU. As of now, there is not much information about the Surge S2 processor. A few leaks also mentioned the device to be named as Mi 6x instead of the Mi 6c. Since there is no official confirmation about the Mi 6c/6x, take these details with a pinch of salt.

Last week, Xiaomi launched the Redmi Y1 and Y1 Lite smartphones in India. These are the same Redmi Note 5A devices that are launched way back in August in China. Unlike the Redmi Note 4 or Redmi 4, the Redmi Y1 devices sport polycarbonate body. The Redmi Y1 offers a 16MP sensor on the front for better looking selfies. Though the devices come with MIUI 8 out of the box, the company also announced to release to latest MIUI 9 update very soon.
