Microsoft refreshes 13.5” Surface Book 2 with the latest Intel 8th-Gen processor

Microsoft has launched its Surface Book 2 – the 2-in-1 PC back in 2017. The company now has quietly refreshed it with the latest Intel processors. The Surface Book 2 was unveiled in two variants – a 13.5-inch model and a 15-inch model. The 13.5-inch model is now refreshed with the latest 8th-Gen Intel processor.

Rumors were suggesting the launch of Microsoft Surface Book 3 lately; however, the company had chosen to silently refresh its 2-in-1 Surface Book 2 with the latest processor. The Surface Book 2 13.5-inch model now has 8th Gen Intel Core i5-8350U quad-core processor with 3.6GHz Max Turbo now available for purchase. And also the larger Surface Book 15-inch now has 8th Gen Intel Core i7-8650U quad-core processor with 4.2GHz Max Turbo available for purchase as well.

To recall, both variants of the Surface Book 2 feature Microsoft’s PixelSense display with a conventional aspect ratio of 3:2. The mid-range 2-in-1 Surface Book 2 13.5-inch now comes in 8 or 16GB of RAM and the 15-inch variant features in 16GB of RAM. Both the Surface Books come in 256/512/1TB storage variants as well. The Graphics has also been improved on the 13.5-inch variant with Intel HD Graphics 620 for the Intel i5-8350U model and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 for the Intel i7-8650U model as well. Both these Surface Books feature an 8MP rear camera with 1080p HD Video support and a 5MP front facing camera along with Windows Hello face authentication feature.

And, lastly the Surface Book 2 13.5-inch model comes in 44W (integrated GPU) or 102W (discrete GPU) battery capacity and the 15-inch Surface Book 2 comes in 102W battery capacity. As for the new pricing, the 13.5-inch Surface Book 2 with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage is priced at $1,499.
