Honor 9 & Honor 8 Pro Gets Android 8.0 Oreo-based EMUI 8.0 Update
You are reading a story from PhoneRadar.
Honor has started rolling out the Android 8.0 Oreo-based EMUI 8.0 update for the Honor 9 and Honor 8 Pro smartphones in the UK. In China, the Honor 8 is also mentioned to get the Oreo update, but there is no confirmation about the same for the global variant. The Honor 7X and Honor 9i will be getting the EMUI 8.0 update in the coming weeks. As of now, only the Honor 8 Pro and Honor 9 are getting the OTA updates.
The users will be notified of this new firmware update, or else, they can also manually check for the update from their device settings. With the latest Android 8.0 Oreo, the devices will now support Picture-in-Picture (PIP) mode, autofill framework, notification dots, adaptive icons, and much more. Apart from the what Google offers with the latest Oreo update, Honor is also said to make a few performance related improvements with the EMUI 8.0.
The recent update to the Honor 7X included face unlock and AR lens feature in the camera app. We also expect the company to offer the Face Unlock feature for other Honor smartphones as well. From using the EMUI 8.0 powered Honor 9 Lite and Honor View 10, we found that the EMUI 8.0 is a bit on the aggressive side when coming to the background execution limits. Honor is also busy in launching new color options.
Honor 7X in Red color is now listed on Amazon India for Rs. 12,999. On the other hand, the new Honor 9 Lite in Glacier Grey color is said to go on sale starting next Tuesday. Talking about the global rollout of the EMUI 8.0 update, we expect it to happen in the next couple of weeks.
