Smartphone Brands Wileyfox & Kazam Going Bankrupt, Stop Selling Phones

Back in 2015, The UK-based Wileyfox debuted the smartphone market by launching two Cyanogen-powered smartphones called Swift and Storm. However, the company later switched from Cyanogen OS to the in-house OS. Later on, the newly launched devices failed to generate the same buzz as first-gen smartphones. Now, the latest news is that the company went bankrupt and is running in the hands of administrators.

As of now, there is no clear information how the change in administration will affect the company in the long run. All the current Wileyfox devices are still listed for sale on Amazon UK. The existing users of Wileyfox smartphones might continue to get the support at least for the next couple of months. Talking about the software updates, it was hinted that there won’t be any new OTA update made available for the existing devices.

In the coming days, we expect the company to come out with clear information about its future. The mobile phone listing page on the company’s official website went blank. According to the Reddit post, Andrew Andronikou and Andrew Hosking are mentioned to be appointed as joint administrators and will be serving without personal liability. A quick Google search also revealed that its sister company is also taken over by the administration a few days ago.

Wileyfox along with Kazam and Fly Mobile are owned by the UK-based Meridian Group. While the news about Wileyfox going bankrupt came out today, we found that Kazam was taken over by the administration on February 4th.
