Sony Xperia L2 with HD Display & MediaTek Quad-core Processor Launched for Rs. 19,990

At the CES 2017, Sony unveiled three new Xperia smartphones with the old-fashioned 16:9 display. While the Sony Xperia XA2 and XA2 Ultra are the camera-centric smartphones, the Xperia L2 is the low-cost smartphone with MediaTek chipset. Today, Sony launched the Xperia L2 in India for Rs. 19,990. There are better smartphones available in the market which cost much lesser than the Xperia L2.

The company continues to use the Omnibalance design with thick bezels on the top and bottom edges. It sports a 5.5-inch display that only HD (1280 x 720 Pixels) resolution and 16:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood is the MediaTek MT6737T “quad-core” processor coupled with Mali-T720 GPU. Yes, Sony is offering a quad-core processor for Rs. 19,990 in 2018. Compared to Xperia L2, the Vivo and OPPO smartphone seems to offer better value.

The device includes 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage that can be further expandable storage via a MicroSD card slot. In terms of optics, there is a 13MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture and an 8MP front camera with f/2.4 aperture and 120-degree wide-angle lens. The Xperia L2 is backed by a 3,300mAh non-removable battery and there is no fast charging support.

It also supports dual SIM dual standby and offers VoLTE for using with the Jio 4G SIM. While the Xperia XA2 and Xperia XA2 are launched with Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box, the Xperia L2 still runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat. The company didn’t mention about the Android 8.0 Oreo update for this smartphone. It measures 150 x 78 x 9.8 mm and weighs 178 grams. There is a circular fingerprint sensor on the rear of the device.

Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, NFC, 3.5mm audio jack, and a USB Type-C port. The Xperia L2 comes in Black and Gold color options.
