Xiaomi’s BlackShark Gaming Smartphone with Snapdragon 845 & 8GB RAM Spotted Online
Back in February, we reported about the possible launch of a gaming smartphone from Black Shark, one of the subsidiaries of Xiaomi. While there is no official confirmation, a new BlackShark smartphone with flagship specifications is now revealed by Antutu. As of now, there are no details about the device name or its model number. The teaser image from its official website reveals the device to feature USB Type-C port and stereo speakers on the bottom edge.

(February 20th, 2018)
It comes with a metal unibody design with chamfered edges and is covered by a 2.5D curved glass on the top. Talking about the specifications, the first smartphone from BlackShark will be coming with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 octa-core processor coupled with Adreno 630 GPU. It also includes 8GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. We expect the device to be made available in different storage options.
As we reported earlier, the device might come with the aviation-class cooling system. Since its a gaming-centric device, we expect the company to make even more tweaks. However, we don’t expect the device to be slim or sleek like other flagship devices. While Xiaomi recently launched the MIUI 9 based on Android 7.1.1 Nougat, the upcoming BlackShark smartphone is listed to come with Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box.
Let’s wait and see whether it comes with MIUI skin or not. Talking about the display, it offers 18:9 aspect ratio and Full HD+ (2160 x 1080 pixels) resolution. Te BlackShark with 270680 Antutu score has crossed other Snapdragon 845 powered devices including Samsung Galaxy S9 and Asus Zenfone 5z. The BlackShark will be competing with the Snapdragon 835 powered RazerPhone. The RazerPhone came with a 120Hz display and 4000mAh battery.
Latest: BlackShark SKR-A0 Spotted on Geekbench with Snapdragon 845 & 8GB RAM
Last month, we exclusively reported about the possible launch of a gaming smartphone from Xiaomi in China. Laster, we also found the Antutu listing of the BlackShark smartphone revealing all the key specifications. Even the company also teased the design of the device by listing it on their official website. Now, the same BlackShark smartphone is spotted on Geekbench with the model number SKR-A0. The device specifications from the Geekbench are similar to the details we found on Antutu.
Based on the listing, the Xiaomi’s first gaming-centric smartphone has scored 2452 on the single core test and 8452 on the multi-core test. Earlier this week, another Xiaomi smartphone with the codename Dipper is found on Geekbench. It is mentioned to come with Snapdragon 845 SoC and 6GB of RAM. The Xiaomi Dipper has scored 2449 on the single core test and 8309 on the multi-core test.
While there is no official confirmation, the Xiaomi Dipper is expected to be launched as Mi 7 in the coming months. We might be hearing some sort of confirmation about the BlackShark and Mi 7 smartphone at the upcoming Mi MIX 2S launch event. Stay tuned on PhoneRadar for more details.
