Xiaomi’s CEO Lei Jun Elected as Vice President of China Quality Association

Lei Jun, an engineering graduate from Wuhan University in China is known for us as the co-founder of the popular smartphone brand, Xiaomi. He is also the chairman and CEO of the company. According to Wikipedia, he also acts as chairman for Kingsoft, UCWeb, and YY.com. In November last year, he was elected as vice chairman of the National Federation of Industry and Commerce. Now the China Quality Association (CAQ) elected him as vice president.
The CAQ is a 30-year old non-profit organization registered with China’s Ministry of Civil Affairs. It works closely with the international quality organizations including European Organization for Quality (EOQ) and American Society for Quality (ASQ). According to its official website, it has 16 sub-associations involving different sectors like telecommunications, science, and technology.
There are also 2300+ corporate members like Huawei, TCL, ZTE, Haier, BMW, Midea, and Lenovo in the CAQ. The CAQ said Lei Jun as vice president will help the association in fully integrating the professional ideas with the new concepts from all key sectors like internet ecosystem. Lei Jun personally made investments in several Chinese internet startups. Under this leadership, Xiaomi now became the fourth largest smartphone manufacturer in the world. In India, Xiaomi has dethroned Samsung as the No.1 smartphone brand in the last quarter of 2017. The company will also go public later this year with an expected valuation of US$100 billion.
