Asus Launches Zenfone 5Z with 6.2″ 19:9 Full-Screen Display, Snapdragon 845 SoC & 8GB RAM

Alongside the Samsung Galaxy S9 and Sony Xperia XZ2 smartphones, Asus also announced its 2018 flagship smartphone called Asus Zenfone 5Z powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 Mobile Platform. Apart from few changes, the Zenfone 5Z is exactly the same Zenfone 5 smartphones. Even on the design front, both the devices look exactly same with the glass back body and concentric circles pattern. There is a notch on the top of the display and is mentioned to be smaller than the one on Apple iPhone X.

It sports a 6.2-inch Full HD+ (2246 × 1080 pixels) Super IPS display on the front with 19:9 aspect ratio and 500 nits brightness. There is also a 2.5D curved Corning Gorilla Glass protection on the top. While the Zenfone 5 is powered by Snapdragon 636 Moblie Platform, the flagship Zenfone 5Z packs a much more powerful Snapdragon 845 Mobile Platform. It will be available in 4GB, 6GB, and 8GB RAM variants with 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB storage options respectively. There is also a MicroSD card slot for expanding the storage technically up to 2TB.

Talking about the cameras, there is a 12MP + 8MP dual camera setup on the rear with dual pixel PDAF, OIS, and 120-degree wide-angle view. For selfies, the Zenfone 5Z offers an 8MP front-facing camera that can also capture portrait shots. Along with the fingerprint sensor, the Zenfone 5Z can also be unlocked using Face Unlock. As seen on the Zenfone 5, the Zenfone 5Z is also backed by the same 3,300mAh non-removable battery with BoostMaster fast charging support. It runs on the latest Android Oreo-based ZenUI 5.0 out of the box and is guaranteed to receive the Android P update.

It measures 158 × 75.6 × 7.7 mm and weighs 155 grams. Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5, GPS, 3.5mm Audio Jack, and a USB Type-C port. The Zenfone 5Z also sports stereo speakers with NXP 9874 Smart amplifier for offering Hi-Res audio. It is mentioned to be available in Blue and Silver color options. Talking about the pricing, the base variant of the Asus Zenfone 5Z will be costing EUR 479 (approx $583 / Rs. 38,000) and will go on sale starting June this year.
