OPPO Launching New Sub-brand in India, Smartphones to be Amazon Exclusive
The Indian brands are already facing the heat from Chinese manufacturers. The offline focused smartphone brands like OPPO and Vivo have started selling their smartphones through online stores. Now, OPPO has officially confirmed to launch a new sub-brand in the Indian market. The official announcement about this new sub-brand will be made tomorrow. Along with announcing a new sub-brand, the company will also unveil a new smartphone.
OPPO has collaborated with Amazon India to sell the first smartphone under this new sub-brand. Earlier this month, Asus and Flipkart announced a similar partnership to sell Asus smartphones on Flipkart. While BBK-owned OnePlus is one of the best premium smartphone brands in the online segment, the upcoming sub-brand will be targetting budget segment users. On the other hand, China-based Xiaomi is now aggressively expanding its offline presence in India.
With this new sub-brand, OPPO seems to compete with Xiaomi which has a very strong presence in the online sales. Xiaomi is the largest smartphone brand in India for three straight quarters. As of now, there is no information about the name of this new sub-brand or any details about the upcoming new smartphone. While Xiaomi is currently assembling all their smartphones locally in India, OPPO might also sell their new smartphones with ‘Made in India’ tag.
Both OPPO and Vivo have a seen a huge drop in the partnered sales outlets and many retail chains have ended their partnerships. While these two brands are still strong in the online segment, the huge surge in the online smartphones sales might have forced them to also concentrate on the online sales. Stay tuned on PhoneRadar to know more about the new sub-brand from OPPO.
