Xiaomi Launches Yi Home Camera 3 with H.265 Support & Upgraded Night Vision
Xiaomi’s Yi technologies have been known for its affordable action cameras. The companies portfolio also includes Yi-branded home security cameras, mirrorless cameras, and dashboard cameras. The Yi products are also sold in the western markets including the US. Now, the company came with the 3rd-gen security camera called Yi Home Camera 3. Compared to the first two variants, the company went for a complete overhaul of the design of the new Yi Home Camera 3.
Even with the upgraded features, the Yi Home Camera 3 costs same as its predecessor. It can rotate 360-degrees and the camera can be moved up and down. One good feature of this camera is the privacy mode – once the camera is turned off, the camera sensor will be hidden inside the body. The company also upgraded the night vision mode and added the H.265 codec support. It comes in a White body with the Black base and Black camera module.
The Yi Home Camera 3 uses the Near Infrared Spectroscopy (NIS) technology sensor for better night vision. It now comes equipped with AI-integrated software to sort out the footage that includes the human motion. The camera also support voice commands like saying it to record video or take a photo. With the voice recognition turned on, the camera can detect when infants cry and send the notification to the connected smartphone.
It can now detect the humans within 12 meters distance and has 40% better accuracy than its predecessor. In China, the company is also offering plans to save the footage in the cloud that is fully encrypted and can be accessed anytime anywhere. The user can also make video calls using the connected smartphone. While the Yi Home Cameras are sold in India via Amazon, the new Yi Home Camera 3 is now just exclusive to the Chinese market. It is priced at 399 Yuan and is already on sale.
