Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1 with Snapdragon 636 & 5000mAh Battery Launched
A few days back Asus and Flipkart hold an event in New Delhi to announce their exclusive partnership for selling the new Zenfone Max Pro M1 to the Indian consumers. The Taiwanese company had mentioned the device to come with Snapdragon 636 processor. Today, Asus is holding the launch event for the Zenfone Max Pro M1 in India and Indonesia simultaneously. Earlier, we expected the company to launch the Zenfone 5 and Zenfone 5z smartphones in the Indian market.
However, the company decided to launch a new device specifically for the emerging markets. The Zenfone Max Pro M1 is also the company’s first ever smartphone to come with stock Android UI. Last year, Xiaomi surprised everyone by launching the Xiaomi Mi A1 Android One smartphone. Now in 2018, Asus ditches its own Zen UI in favor of stock UI. With stock Android, the device will be able to get faster Android updates.
Talking about the device, it comes with the metal unibody design with 2.5D curved glass on the front. The Zenfone Max Pro M1 sports a 5.99-inch FullView display with Full HD+ (2160 x 1080 pixels) resolution and 18:9 aspect ratio. Unlike the Zenfone 5 and Zenfone 5z smartphones, the Zenfone Max Pro M1 comes with a notch-less display. Under the hood is the 14nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 Mobile Platform featuring custom Kryo cores.
While the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro is the world’s first smartphone to use the Snapdragon 636, the Zenfone 5 unveiled at the MWC 2018 also uses the same chipset. The device comes in 3GB and 4GB RAM variants with 32GB and 64GB of internal storage respectively. There is also a dedicated MicroSD card slot for expanding the storage up to 256GB. On the rear, we can also find the circular fingerprint sensor that can unlock the device in just 0.3 seconds.
However, the device also includes facial recognition support to unlock the device using Face Unlock. Talking about the cameras, there are 13MP and 5MP dual rear cameras with f/2.2 aperture and 80-degree wide-angle lens. The company also mentioned the device to support portrait mode for capturing photos with bokeh effect. For selfies, the Zenfone Max Pro M1 sports a single 8MP front-facing camera with LED flash. It comes with triple card slot for adding two nano SIM cards along with a MicroSD card.
With all these specifications, the device is backed by a huge 5,000mAh non-removable battery that should last up to a single day of heavy usage. However, the device only supports only up to 5V/2A (10W) power input. Both the power button and volume rocker are placed on the right edge of the device. The 5-magnet loudspeaker with the 2nd-gen NXP Smart Amplifier technology is also mentioned to provide great audio output.
It measures 159 x 76 x 8.61 mm and weighs 180 grams. The device runs on the latest Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box. The device comes in Meteor Silver and Deepsea Black color options. It will be exclusively sold via Flipkart in India. Coming to the pricing, the Zenfone Max Pro M1 with 3GB and 4GB of RAM is priced at Rs 10,999 and Rs 12,999 respectively.
