Nubia Launches Red Magic Gaming Smartphone, Will Be Live On Indiegogo From April 26th
After being in the rumors mills from last one month, the gaming smartphone from Nubia is now officially unveiled. Earlier this month, Xiaomi’s subsidiary Black Shark came up with its first ever gaming smartphone featuring top-notch specifications.The company is calling it as Red Magic Phone and will be exclusively available on Indiegogo. While the company is yet to announce the retail price of this device, the early bird pricing on Indiegogo is $399.
The listing kicks-off on April 26th and the sale date will be announced very soon. As of now, Xiami’s Black Shark gaming smartphone is exclusively sold only in China. Apart from the aesthetics, the major difference between the Red Magic and Black Shark gaming smartphones is the processor. While the Black Shark phone uses the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, the Red Magic phone uses the last year’s Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor.
It also packs 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.1 internal storage. There is a large RGB backlit strip on the rear with 4 different lighting effects which should impress the gamers. The Game Boost feature optimizations the CPU usage for gaming with high-end settings with higher frame rates. The users can turn ON the “Game Boost” mode with the button placed on top of the right edge.
While the Black Shark came with water cooling system, the Red Magic uses the all-new air cooling system that is mentioned to “dissipates heat effectively across its diamond-cut design without compromising on performance.” On the front is a large 6-inch LTPS display with Full HD+ (2160 x 0180 pixels) resolution and 18:9 aspect ratio. While Razer Phone came with a 120Hz display, the Black Shark and Red Magic phones are using displays with only 60Hz refresh rate.
Talking about the cameras, there is a single 24MP sensor on the rear with f/1.7 aperture, EIS, and LED flash. For selfies, there is an 8MP camera on the front with f/2.0 aperture. It runs on the latest Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box. On the connectivity front, the Red Magic offers 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 2.4GHz & 5GHz, MIMO 2×2, Bluetooth 5.0, 3.5mm audio jack, and USB Type-C port. It measures 158.1 x 74.9 x 9.5 mm and weighs 185 grams.
It is backed by a 3,800mAh non-removable battery that can last upto 7 hours while playing graphics intensive games. Just below the rear camera, we can also spot the hexagonal fingerprint sensor.
