Meizu 16X with 6″ AMLCD Display & In-display Fingerprint Sensor Launched
Earlier this Meizu launched the Meizu 16th and Meizu 16th Plus smartphones with flagship specifications. Today, the company launched a new smartphone called Meizu 16X with an in-display fingerprint sensor. It sports metal unibody design with curved edges and rounded corners. The device comes in 64GB and 128GB storage variants and is priced at 2098 Yuan and 2398 Yuan respectively.
On the front, the device sports 6.0-inch AMLCD (not AMOLED) display with Full HD+ (2160 x 1080 pixels) resolution and 18:9 aspect ratio. The Meizu 16X should be the world’s first smartphone to feature an in-display fingerprint sensor and LCD display. We still have no clue how an LCD display can brighten the display to read the fingerprint data. According to Meizu, the display on the Meizu 16X uses the similar technology as the Apple iPhone XR’s Liquid Retina display.
Under the hood, the device comes powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 octa-core processor built on a 10nm FinFET process. It is coupled with Adreno 616 GPU and 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM. Talking about the dual rear cameras, the Meizu 16X features 12MP primary sensor with f/1.8 aperture, OIS, 6P lens and a 20MP secondary sensor with f/2.6 aperture. There is also a ring flashlight featuring 6 LEDs on the rear.
For selfies, there is a 20MP front-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture and AI Portrait mode. Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (2.4GHz and 5GHz), Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, NFC, 3.5mm audio jack, and USB Type-C port. Though the device sports in-display fingerprint sensor, the company also added Face Unlock option. It is backed by a 3,100mAh non-removable battery that also supports fast charging. It measures 151 x 73.5 x 7.5 mm and weighs 154 grams.
The device will be available in Black, White, and Gold color options. The pre-orders for the Meizu 16X begins today and goes on sale starting September 26th. Stay tuned on PhoneRadar for more details!
