Xiaomi Mi 8 Youth with Snapdragon 660 Launched in Gradient Color Options

Xiaomi today launched two new smartphones – Mi 8 Youth and Mi 8 In-display fingerprint variant at an event held in Chengdu, China. The Mi 8 Youth is the most affordable smartphone in the Mi 8 series. It comes with a glossy finish back body and will be available in three different gradient color options – Dawn Gold, Fantasy Blue, Deep Gray. The device measures just 7.5mm thick and weighs 169 grams.

On the front is the 6.26-inch notch display with Full HD+ resolution (2280×1080 pixels) resolution and 19:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 Mobile Platform coupled Kryo 260 and Adreno 512 GPU. The Mi 8 Youth will be available in 4GB and 6GB RAM variants and 64GB and 128bGB of internal storage. There is also a MicroSD card slot for further expansion of storage.

In the camera department, the device features 12MP + 5MP dual AI cameras with f/1.9 aperture and a 24MP single front camera with f/2.2 aperture. There is a rear-facing fingerprint sensor and also support face unlock. However, it lacks the IR sensor as seen on the other Mi 8 smartphones. It runs on Android 8.1 Oreo-based MIUI 9.6 out of the box and will be updated to MIUI 10 very soon.

The device is backed by a 3,350mAh non-removable battery and supports fast charging. Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, and USB Type-C port. Coming to the pricing, the Mi 8 Youth with 4GB of RAM with 64GB of internal storage is priced at 1399 Yuan. The Mi 8 Youth 6GB RAM variant is priced at 1699 Yuan and 1999 Yuan for the 64GB and 128GB storage options.
