Xiaomi Redmi 5 will be Amazon Exclusive in India, Launching on March 14th

Earlier this week, Xiaomi launched the 32-inch and 43-inch Mi TV 4A smart TVs in the Indian market. At the end of the launch video, the company teased a new smartphone that will be launching on March 14th in India. From the teaser images, we can confirm the upcoming device as Xiaomi Redmi 5. Once it is launched, the Redmi 5 will be the most affordable Xiaomi smartphone to offer 18:9 display.
Apart from Mi.com and Mi Home stores, the device will be exclusive to Amazon India. Talking about the specifications, the Redmi 5 sports a 5.7-inch IPS display with HD+ (1440 x 720 pixels) resolution and 18:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood is the 64-bit Snapdragon 450 octa-core processor coupled with Adreno 506 GPU. The device might come in 2GB and 3GB RAM variants with 16GB and 32GB of internal storage respectively.
There is also a MicroSD card slot for expanding the storage up to 128GB. Just like the Chinese variant, the Indian variant might also come with Android 7.1 Nougat based MIUI 9 out of the box. In the camera department, the Redmi 5 will be offering a 12MP camera on the rear with f/2.2 aperture and a 5MP selfie camera on the front with. The recently launched Redmi Note 5 (a.k.a Redmi 5 Plus) also came with same cameras.
It will be backed by a 3,300mAh non-removable battery that only supports 5V/2A charging. As seen on the other Xiaomi devices, the Redmi 5 also feature IR Blaster on the top edge. On the rear, we can also find the circular fingerprint sensor. Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, 3.5mm audio jack, and a MicroUSB 2.0 port.
