Now, very recently we have seen the five-camera setup on the LG’s V40 ThinkQ smartphone and LG is not ready to get satisfied with it and has filed a patent for a smartphone with 16 cameras which are arranged in the 4×4 matrix! Yes, you read it right, the cameras are designed to capture a scene from multiple perspectives in one shot and will allow its users to shoot 3D movies and also manipulate them accordingly.
We have one example from LG that shows how the user will be able to select the best photo in a series or even take a single shot from many angles. The head of the subject can be rotated accordingly to get the desired look as per the user. The second example reveals that the user will be able to draw around a person’s head using their finger and system will be able to recognize them and search for any other photos using AI.
The patent also reveals that the smartphone will let its user take selfies from the main camera by equipping it with a mirror. This is the similar technology that was used on the old flip smartphones. It is mentioned int he patted that the main camera will be providing a better image quality than the front camera. The patient also say that the possibility of integrating a touchpad on the rear but it has not been shown in the sketches,
Earlier this year, there was a smartphone called the Lite L16 which camera with 16 smartphone-size image sensors but it is completely different from the patent filed by LG. Nokia’s 9 PureView seems to be coming with five cameras on the rear but there is no confirmation on it yet. Well, we have to wait and see what LG has inshore for its users but it will take some time for all these things to happen.
