Qualcomm Snapdragon 8150 Could be the Codename, Might Launch as Snapdragon 855
The successor of the Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 SoC is coming closer to be unveiled and it was said to be called as Snapdragon 8150 from the recent leaks. Logically the chipset should be called as Snapdragon 855 and the same news has popped up now. According to the latest reports the upcoming flagship chipset from Qualcomm could be called as Snapdragon 855 and not 8150, as SM8150 is the code name of the upcoming processor.
Furthermore, the chipset will be showcased in Hawaii on December 4th at the Snapdragon Technology summit. On the other hand, we have seen the South Korean Giant – Samsung has announced its Exynos 9830 processor which will be used on international’s variants of its upcoming Galaxy S10 smartphone. The latest Snapdragon Chipset is expected to be used in the upcoming high end smartphone which are scheduled to released in the first half of 2019.
All the details about the new chipset will be announced at the event scheduled by the company which is a three-day annual event which will be held between December 4th to 6th. The summit it is also expected to make 5G related announcements from different smartphone makers and carriers. Qualcomm will make the 5G model which we are likely to see on the smartphones in 2019.
Apart from Qualcomm, Samsung, Huawei, Mediatek and Intel are also working on developing 5G modems. At the launch event it will be interesting to see if the new chipset will be integrated to the Qualcomm 5G modem. If the company decides to bring a version that integrates 5G to in to the system or it will be coming in a separate option.
