HMD Global Might Launch Nokia 8 Pro with 18:9 Display & Snapdragon 845 SoC

You are reading a story from PhoneRadar.

Nokia under HMD Global launched its first flagship smartphone called Nokia 8 in the second half of 2017. While there are rumors about the possible launch of Nokia 9 in early 2018, the company unveiled the Nokia 8 Sirocco edition at the recently concluded MWC 2018. Though it comes with almost similar internals as its successor, the new Sirocco edition sports a 3D curved glass on the front and rear.

If the rumors are to believed, HMD Global will soon unveil the Nokia 8 Pro with the latest internals. Since there is no trusted source backing these details, take them with a pinch of salt. At the MWC, the company launched the Nokia 7 Plus as its first 18:9 smartphone. Now, the rumored Nokia 8 Pro will also sport the 18:9 display. We will be looking at a 6.01-inch display with Full HD+ (2160 x 1080 pixels) resolution.

Under the hood, it will come powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 Mobile Platform coupled with Adreno 630 GPU. The device will be available in 6GB and 8GB RAM variants with 64GB and 128GB of internal storage respectively. In the camera department, the device sports dual 16MP cameras on the rear and a single 13MP sensor on the front.

The Nokia 8 Pro will be backed by a 4,000mAh non-removable battery and should support Quick Charge fast charging technology. Since the device is said to support wireless charging, it will be coming with the glass back body. While the Nokia 8 Sirocco edition lacks the 3.5mm audio jack, we hope the company brings it back with the Nokia 8 Pro smartphone.

It is mentioned to come with Android Oreo and we don’t expect this to be the Android One device. Though the Nokia 8 offered almost stock Android UI, the new Nokia 8 Sirocco edition was launched as Android One device. With the Android One, the device will be guaranteed to receive at least two years of major Android updates. Even the device will be receiving the timely security patch updates. Stay tuned on PhoneRadar for more details.
