BJP Government is all set to distribute laptops to youth if they get maximum votes and win in the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly Elections. Amit Shah, National President of BJP in a manifesto for Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections named Lok Kalyan Sankalp Patra (Pledge for People’ Welfare) states that if his political party forms the government in Uttar Pradesh this time. Then, the youths of the state would receive laptops with the 1GB free internet connectivity.
India is on it’s way to becoming a Digital Nation, with campaigns like Digital India and companies like Reliance Jio making it possible for the nation to grow digitally, the country may soon be fully digitally powered. With the rise of payments apps such as Paytm, Airtel Payments Bank, and other services, the country is on the fast forward way to becoming digitally equipped with various kinds of services.
The credit for cashless payments revolution can be easily given to Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India. It was his decision to demonetize the old currency and introduce new Rs 2000 notes. The PM recently launched BHIM app, which saw more than a crore downloads on Google Playstore. The app let’s you make payments using your mobile number. The only condition is that your bank account should be connected with that number and Aadhaar card information should be available with the bank.
Free Smartphones to Low Income Residents of UP under Samajwadi Smart Phone Yojana
This isn’t the first time that we have heard such luring schemes from political parties. Last year Akhilesh Yadav’s government, the current Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh promised to distribute Free smartphones to low-income residents of UP. It was promised under the scheme of Samajwadi Smart phone Yojana. The SP (Samajwadi Party) government were to provide free smartphones to individuals who are 18 years or older as on January 1st, 2017. But there is no news regarding this scheme; it is uncertain whether it would go ahead or not.
Talking about the BJP government’s promise of distributing laptops, it was announced today, and more updates are yet to come. Such as who would be eligible for this scheme and when can Uttar Pradesh residents expect it to go live. But factually, it would all depend whether or not BJP government wins in the upcoming Assembly UP Elections that are slated to go live from the second week of March 2017.
