Samsung Galaxy S7 Active is ready to get updated with Android Nougat soon. The Active version of the Galaxy S7 is exclusive to AT&T, and now the Android-powered model spotted on the WiFi certification by WiFI Alliance. Earlier the same device was spotted on GFXBench last month running on Nougat. The South Korean Giant has not mentioned anything about the device or update yet, but now we can expect it to happen soon.
After several leaks and rumors, Samsung has officially launched the Galaxy S7 Active through AT&T in the U.S. As seen with the earlier Galaxy Active iterations; the new Galaxy S7 Active comes with the military grade rugged body featuring almost the same specifications as normal Galaxy S7. Last year’s Galaxy S6 Active offered water and dust proof resistant which are missing are on the original Galaxy S6 device. But the Galaxy S7 is both water and dust proof certified, and the company came up with MIL-STD-810G military grade protection with shatter resistant design.
It features a plastic body with shock-resistant rubber bumper surround the device edges. The device will be available in Camo Green, Sandy Gold and Titanium Gray colors. It sports the same 5.1-inch Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) Super AMOLED display and is powered by Snapdragon 820 quad-core processor. The Galaxy S7 Active also includes 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage along with MicroSD card slot. The 3,000mAh battery on Galaxy S7 is bumped up to 4,000mAh on the S7 Active. It runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow with the customized TouchWiz UI laid on top.
The new rugged device features the same 12MP rear camera and 5MP front camera setup as on Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge. Unlike the earlier rugged Galaxy devices, the new Galaxy S7 Active comes with the fingerprint sensor embedded into the physical home button. The shatter resistant makes the S7 Active withstand the drops from 5 feet height, while the IP68 makes the device can stay under water upto 30 minutes. Along with the volume rocker and power button, the Galaxy S7 Active comes with customizable Active Key for quick access to selected app.
With the included fingerprint sensor and NFC, the Samsung Pay works fine with this device. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, NFC, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, & MicroUSB port. The 4,000mAh battery can be fully charged in just 90 minutes with the included power adapter. It will be available in stock starting from June 10th at a price of $750, while AT&T is also offering at $26.50 for 30 months or at $33.13 for 24 months under AT&T Next plan.
