HMD Global Might Launch Nokia 8110 4G, New Nokia 6, Nokia 7 Plus, & Nokia 8 Sirocco in India
Last month, HMD Global has sent out the media invites for its first-ever launch event in 2018. The company is expected to launch the new Nokia 6 (2018) and Nokia 7 Plus in the Indian market. While the Nokia 1 Android Go smartphone is already launched in India, the company has listed all the other four newly unveiled devices on its Indian website. The list includes the new Nokia 6, Nokia 7 Plus, Nokia 8 Sirocco, & Nokia 8110 Reloaded version.
The launch event will be held tomorrow in New Delhi, India. The pricing and availability of all the four mobile phones will be known tomorrow. While the Nokia 8110 is a 4G VoLTE-enabled feature phone, all the other devices are Android One smartphones with dual SIM support. Stay tuned on Phone Radar for more details.
Earlier: February 26th, 2017 – At MWC 2017, HMD Global brought back the Nokia-branded mobile phones to the market. Now at the MWC 2018, the company has announced even more devices including another retro phone. In the past one year, HMD Global is said to have sold about 11.5 million Nokia phones. The company also confirmed that the Nokia 3 and Nokia 2 will soon receive the Android 8.0 Oreo OTA updates.
With the new launches like the Nokia 8110 4G and Nokia 1, the company is also focusing on the feature phone users and also those who are switching from feature phone to a smartphone. There are also a bunch of Android One devices which offer stock Android experience with faster OTA updates.
Nokia 8110 4G Reloaded
With the new Nokia 8110, HMD Global is continuing to bring back the nostalgic moments of older Nokia devices. It comes in Yellow and Black color options. It will be available from May this year and will be costing less than EUR 79. It sports a 2.4-inch QVGA (320 x 240 pixels) curved display and is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 205 Mobile Platform. There is 512MB of RAM and 4GB of expandable storage.
The device runs on KaiOS-based Smart Feature OS and supports Google Assistant. It is backed by a 1,500mAh battery, and there is also a 2MP camera on the rear. Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, 3.5mm audio jack, and MicroUSB 2.0 port. It measures 133.45 x 49.3 x 14.9 mm and weighs 117 grams.
Nokia 1 Android Go
As rumors suggested, HMD Global has announced the Nokia 1 Android Go smartphone at the MWC 2018. It will be available starting this April and comes with a price tag of $85. The device runs on the new Android Oreo (Go edition), the liter variant of Andoird OS. The company also announced the Xpress-on interchangeable covers for the Nokia 1 smartphone. It comes with a 4.5-inch IPS display with FWVGA (854 x 480 pixels) resolution.
Under the hood is the MediaTek MT6737M quad-core clocked at 1.1GHz and comes coupled with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. The device sports a 5MP rear camera with LED flash and a 2MP front camera. It will be running on Android 8.1 Oreo (Go Edition) out of the box. The device measures 133.6 x 67.78 x 9.5 mm and weighs 131 grams. The Nokia 1 is backed by a 2,150mAh battery and offers basic connectivity options including 4G VoLTE.
New Nokia 6 Android One
After launching the Nokia 6 (2018) in China, HMD Global today unveiled another variant of the Nokia 6 at the MWC 2018 in Barcelona. The new Nokia 6 is an Android One smartphone and comes with stock Android and two years of guaranteed major Android updates. The device comes with the same 5.5-inch Full HD display with 16:9 aspect ratio, but it comes powered by Snapdragon 630 Mobile Platform. It comes with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage that can be expandable up to 128GB.
In the camera department, there is a 16MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture and ZEISS lens. On the front is an 8MP selfie camera with f/2.o aperture. The device runs on Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box and is said to receive Face Unlock feature via OTA update in Q2 2018. The device is kept powered on by a 3,000mAh battery with fast charging support. It is priced at EUR 249 and will be going on sale starting early April.
Nokia 7 Plus Android One
The Nokia 7 Plus is an all-new smartphone from HMD Global and is the first to offer an 18:9 display. The Nokia 7 Plus is also an Android One smartphone, and the design looks similar to the Nokia 6. On the back, the device comes with ceramic coating. However, this new device comes with an 18:9 display and dual rear cameras. The 6-inch IPS display on the front offers Full HD+ (2160 x 1080 pixels) resolution and rounded corners.
It is also first Snapdragon 660 powered smartphone to launch on a global scale. The Nokia 7 Plus comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable storage. There is a dual camera setup on the rear with 12MP wide-angle sensor and 13MP telephoto sensor. For selfies, the device comes equipped with a 16MP front-facing camera. All the three cameras on the Nokia 7 Plus are equipped with ZEISS optics. It is backed by a 3,800mAh battery and supports Nokia OZO Audio with three microphones onboard.
Nokia 8 Sirocco Android One
The Nokia 8 Sirocco is yet another Android One smartphone announced by HMD Global at this year’s MWC. While the key specifications remain same as on the last year’s Nokia 8, the new Nokia 8 Sirocco comes with a refreshed design. It now comes with a 5.5-inch pOLED display with Quad HD resolution and 16:9 aspect ratio. The device now offers slightly thinner bezels and sports a 3D curved glass on the top. It also got wireless charging support, and the fingerprint is now moved to the rear.
It comes with Snapdragon 835 SoC, 6GB of RAM, and 128GB of internal storage. In the camera department, the Nokia 8 Sirocco sports 12MP + 13MP dual rear cameras and a 5MP single front camera. It is backed by a 3,260mAh non-removable battery and fast charging. There is no 3.5mm Audio jack on this device. The Nokia 8 Sirocco Android One smartphone is priced at EUR 749 and will be available starting April.
