Xiaomi Poco F1 Does Not Play Videos in 720p or 1080p on Amazon Prime & Netflix

Xiaomi recently introduced a new sub-brand called POCO (a.k.a POCOPHONE) and the first smartphone to launch under this new brand is the POCO F1. It packs a Snapdragon 845 processor and up to 8GB of RAM is available from just Rs 20,999. The company went for a few trade-offs to sell the POCO F1 at such a lower price. Instead of using metal or glass, the company has opted for the polycarbonate body.

Now, the latest news suggests the device is actually missing some the HD playback support. The DRM Info app shows the POCO F1 to support only the Widevine L3 DRM. It means the POCO F1 users can’t stream Netflix or Amazon Prime Video in HD quality. We normally see the budget smartphones coming with Widevine L3 support, the high-end smartphones with Widevine L3 support.

Talking about the other Snapdragon 845-powered smartphones, the OnePlus 6 comes with Widevine L1 support, whereas the Vivo NEX only has Widevine L3 support. With the Widevine L3, the device will limit the video playback only up to 540p. Also, Xiaomi won’t be able to fix this through an OTA update.
