Huawei Able to Boot Honor Play Running on Google’s Fuchsia OS

Well, Google is in for a surprise as its new Fuchsia OS is being tested on Huawei’s Honor Play smartphone. As most of you are aware, that the Tech Giant has been working on the new Fuchsia operating system and a new commit to the project this week which is made by an engineer of Huawei has been spotted. The thing to note, here is the commit mentions the support for the Kirin 970 chipset which also adds Zircon (which is Fuchsia’s core platform) is been tested on the Honor Play device.

The Huawei Engineers were able to add support the Kirin 970 SoC with Fuchsia and they were able to booth the Honor Play device with Fuchsia’s Zircon Kernel. Furthermore, there is an expectation of other devices like Huawei Mate 10, Huawei Mate 10 Pro, Huawei Mate 10 Porsche Design, Huawei P20, Huawei P20 Pro, Huawei Mate RS Porsche Design, Honor V10, Honor 10, Huawei November 3 and Honor Note 10 could also be compatible with the new OS in the future.

Huawei Honor Play is the first consumer Android device which is being tested on Fuchsia and apart from Google, Huawei will be the first company to make a big contribution to the open source project. Ina new commit posted, an engineer form Huawei has clearly revealed that the company has been working on making the upcoming OS run on the smartphones which are based on Kirin 970 chipsets which will start with Honor Play.

According to few reports, Google admitted that it could still take around three years for the OS to be ready for commercial use and before the Honor Play, Google has tested the OS on the Pixelbook and other phones.
