Huawei’s affordable smartphone brand, Honor has launched a new smartphone called as Honor 6X at the CES 2017. The same Honor 6X was already launched in China in October last year along with the Honor Watch S1. Even this same device is expected to launch here in India by the end of this month. Last year, we have seen quite a few smartphones from Huawei and Honor with dual rear cameras. Now, the Honor 6X continues that legacy with the 12MP + 2MP dual cameras on the rear. It was also launched in few other markets as Huawei Mate 9 Lite and Huawei GR5 2017. The Honor 6X will be the successor to the popular Honor 5X smartphone which was the companies most affordable all metal smartphone on the global scale.
It features a 5.5-inch IPS display with Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) resolution and comes with a 2.5D glass laid on top. Under the hood is the Kirin 655 octa-core processor clocked at 2.1GHz and coupled with Mali T830 GPU. The Honor 6X comes with 3GB/4GB of RAM variants and will be available with 32GB/64GB storage options. It also has an expandable storage option with the provided MicroSD card slot that can accept upto another 128GB. The device runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow based EMUI 4.0 out of the box and will soon receive the Android 7.0 Nougat based EMUI 5.0 update. It comes with dual SIM dual standby support and offers 4G VoLTE out of the box.
The 12MP primary camera on the rear comes with f/2.0 aperture and PDAF, whereas the another 2MP rear cameras sensor captures the depth in the image for offering bokeh effect. For selfies, the Honor 6X comes equipped with an 8MP front camera. The fingerprint sensor can be found on the back of the device. It is backed by a 3440mAh non-removable battery that is rated to deliver 23 hours of talk time and lasts upto 650 hours on standby. Connectivity options include 4G, VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, and MicroUSB 2.0 port. It measures 150.9 x 76.2 x 8.2 mm and weighs 162 grams. The device lacks the NFC which makes the Honor 6X unusable for mobile payment services like Android Pay.
In the U.S, the Honor 6X with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage is priced at $250 and 4GB RAM variant with 64GB storage costs $299.
