Honor Started Recruiting Beta Testers for Android 7.0 Nougat in India

The latest Android OS updates never seen much penetration like the Apple’s iOS. Until December 5th last year, more than a year old Android 6.0 Marshmallow has a market share of 26.3% while the Android 7.0 Nougat has reached just 0.4%. However, in the coming days, we can expect the Android 7.0 Nougat market share to rise faster than expected as more and more manufacturers are started releasing the OTA updates. Earlier today, ZTE announced to soon release the Android 7.0 Nougat update for the popular Axon 7 smartphone.

Now, Honor came with the Nougat beta testing for its affordable Honor 5C smartphone in India. In June 2016, Honor launched the Honor 5C smartphone in the Indian market. There will be two batches of beta testing, the first set of 50 users will be testing the first release and the second set of 100 users will be testing the second beta release. The device was launched with Android 6.0 Marshmallow based EMUI 4.1. To register for the beta group, the users of Honor 5C should have the model numbers NEM-L22C675B140/ B151.

The Huawei Mate 9 and Mate 9 Porsche Design smartphone in November last year. These are the first smartphones to run on EMUI 5.0, and recently the company also launched the OTA update for Huawei Nova. The company also officially confirmed to release the Nougat update for Honor 8 in February this year. With the EMUI 5.0, the user can choose to opt for app drawer if required. The recent apps cards UI is now changed to stock Android style. Huawei also introduced the duplicate apps feature called as ‘App Twin’ where the user can have two Facebook and Whatsapp apps on the same device.

Even the users can share their contact with a QR code. With the Kirin 650 octa-core processor, the device can perform better multi-tasking. It sports a 5.2-inch display with Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) resolution. The device packs 2GB of RAM and 16GB fo internal storage that can be further expandable upto 128GB. On the camera front, there is a 13MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture and an 8MP selfie camera with the same f/2.0 aperture. The device is backed by a 3,000mAh non-removable battery and features a fingerprint sensor placed on the back.

Connectivity options include 4G, VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and MicroUSB 2.0 port. On the other hand, the doc sheet shared by the company also mentioned the Honor 8, Honor 8 Smart, Honor 5X, and Huawei P9 devices alongside the Honor 5C. While the beta testing is currently undergoing for Honor 5C, soon we might also see the Android 7.0 Nougat for these other devices.
