You are reading a story from PhoneRadar.
At the Consumer Electronic Show (CES) this year, we saw a new Tango-based AR smartphone from ASUS called the ASUS ZenFone AR. It comes equipped with the augmented reality cameras based on Google’s Tango technology. While there are only a very few of these smartphones in the market right now, we are expecting more of them to land in the near future which will allow users to have more options to choose from and take advantage of this technology. And talking about the more options, the next manufacturer to present their option is going to be the Chinese smartphone manufacturing company Huawei.
According to the source, it is confirmed that Huawei is going to be the next one to join the race of launching smartphones will AR cameras. While it is confirmed that they will be launching it, we don’t have any other info about the device as of now. However, it is expected that this new device will also pack some serious specs of internals in order to be able to power all the AR tasks. Well, if anything that we could do as of now, is patiently waiting for more info on this from the company as there is no other info about it to speculate around.
Talking about the AR based smartphones, the only question remains to be answered is that is it really the need of the hour in the smartphone industry? It has been reported that so far, there are only about 36 apps in the Play Store that takes advantage of the AR capabilities. While Google claims that more of these apps are coming, the only thing we know is that it could take a while. However, one of the apps which will be hitting the Play Store in near future is coming from clothing retailer GAP. The app is called DressingRoom and it will allow the Tango phone users to place clothes on virtual mannequins to see and experience how the clothes would look like in the real world scenarios.
And talking about the Tango smartphones that are available in the market, the most recent one to hit the market is from ASUS. It is called the ZenFone AR and it comes equipped with the AR camera at the back. It has some serious internals as well to power through the AR intensive tasks as well. It has a 5.7″ QHD display on the front and it is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 SoC along with a massive 8GB of RAM. being the highest configuration in which you can buy the phone. While 8GB of RAM on a smartphone sounds like an overkill, we definitely expect more smartphone to come with 8GB of RAM in the near future. With that said, if you want to know more about this new smartphone from Huawei, then we suggest you stay tuned to PhoneRadar for info on this.
