Lenovo Beta Testing ZUK ZUI on Moto Z Smartphones in China

With the acquisition of Motorola from Google, Lenovo had to deal with a total of three smartphones brands including Lenovo’s Vibe and ZUK. However, there are rumors that the company will be launching smartphones under the Moto and ZUK brands. With the recently launched smartphones like K6 Power and K6 Note, the company skipped using the Vibe in the name unlike their predecessors Vibe K5 Note. Apart from the smartphone brands, the company is also trying to minimizing its efforts on their different operating systems. The Lenovo and ZUK smartphones runs on Vibe and ZUI respectively. Coming to the Moto devices, the Chinese variants run on Vibe UI while the international variants come with almost stock Android UI.
Since the company is said to stop the Vibe series, it might also stop all the developments on the Vibe UI. Once it happens officially, the Chinese variants of the Moto devices will be then running on the ZUI. Last week, the company has selected 25 testers for the beta testing of the ZUI on the Moto modular phones. Though the device variant are mentioned specifically, we can expect them to be the Moto Z and Moto Z Play, since these are the two Moto devices with modular features that are launched in China. Recently, the company also upgraded the ZUI from Android 6.0 Marshmallow based ZUI 2.0 to Android 7.0 Nougat based ZUI 2.5. The ZUK devices launched in India runs on ZUI but comes with Google Launcher pre-installed on top.
A couple of weeks back, ZUK launched its latest smartphone named ZUK Edge in China. It comes in 4GB and 6GB RAM variants and is priced at 2,299 Yuan and 2,499 Yuan respectively. The sale of this device started in January 1st in China and is available in Ceramic White and Crystal Black color variants. It comes with a 5.5-inch display with Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) resolution and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass on top. The display occupies most of the space on the front and is said to have a 86.4% screen-to-body ratio. Under the hood is the Snapdragon 821 quad-core processor clocked at 2.35GHz. and coupled with Adreno 530 GPU. It runs on the latest Android 7.0 Nougat based customized ZUI 2.5.
On the camera front, there is a 13MP rear camera with LED flash and an 8MP selfie camera with f/2.2 aperture. The Zuk Edge is backed by a 3100mAh non-removable battery and measures just 7.68 mm thickness. It has a ultrasonic fingerprint sensor placed below the U Touch home button that supports several gestures. It is a dual SIM dual standby device and offers 4G VoLTE support out of the box. Connectivity options include 4G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, A-GPS, and USB Type-C 3.1 port. The device comes with few health related sensors along with accelerometer, ambient light sensor, gyroscope, magnetometer, and proximity sensor.
