Xiaomi to Unveil the Mi MIX Smartphone with White Color Ceramic Body at CES 2017
You are reading a story from PhoneRadar.
Last month, Xiaomi confirmed its presence at the CES 2017 to make a global announcement. The company will be introducing its recently launched electric bike in the U.S. Apart from that, the company might also showcase the popular Mi MIX smartphone with almost bezel-less display in the all new White color. The Ceramic built Mi MIX was already launched exclusively in China in the black color. Even the frame and the physical buttons are completely made of Ceramic. Now the teaser image with “WBHLIATCEK” clearly hints about the launch of White color Mi MIX at the CES 2017. Below you can find the earlier leaked images of the White color Mi MIX. Though the company showcases the White colored device at the event, we don’t expect it to be made available on the global scale as the production of the ceramic products is very hard. Even in China, the Black color variant is sold in limited quantities with weekly sales.
Earlier: Nov 20, 2016 – The Chinese mobile internet company, Xiaomi has launched the Mi Note 2 and Mi MIX smartphones earlier this month in Beijing, China. The Mi MIX features an edgeless display with almost no bezel on the top and side edges. It comes with a similar design as the Sharp Aquos Crystal smartphone that was launched in 2014. The device sports a ceramic body which protects the Mi MIX from scratches better than the glass body devices like Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge. It has a screen-to-body ratio of 93% and an unusual 17:9 aspect ratio. The company has officially launched the device in two variants with 128GB and 256GB storage variants.
Though both the devices are launched in Black color; the 256GB variant comes with 18K gold rings around the rear camera and the fingerprint sensor. Now the device is spotted in White color and might sport the similar Ceramic body as on the black color variant. Since there are no old rings on the back, the company might skip the high-end version for the While color variant. Apart from the change in color, rest of the specifications are expected to be same as on the earlier launched variant. It sports a 6.4-inch edgeless display with Full HD (2040 x 1080 pixels) resolution. Under the hood, the device will be powered by the latest Snapdragon 821 quad-core processor clocked at 2.35GHz and coupled with Adreno 530 GPU.
Qualcomm also announced the Snapdragon 835 SoC produced using the Samsung’s 10nm FinFET process. The device using this new chipset will be launched in the first half of 2017. It runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with the Xiaomi MIUI 8 laid on top. On the camera front, there is a 16MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture and PDAF. As there is no place for the front camera on the top of the device, Xiaomi placed it on the bottom right of the device. It has a 5MP sensor with a wide-angle lens. It is backed by a 4,400mAh non-removable battery and supports Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging technology. While the accidental insurance is costing 249 Yuan in China, without any such insurances, the display replacement is said to cost almost 1350 Yuan.
Even there are rumors that the company is planning to launch a smaller variant of the Mi MIX called as Mi MIX Nano. Unlike the huge 6.4-inch display, the Mi MIX Nano is said to sport a 5.5-inch display. Since it comes with an almost bezel-less display, the form factor will be much smaller than the regular 5.5-inch smartphones. Though it is said to include the same Snapdragon 821 SoC, there will be just 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. While the battery capacity will be slightly decreased, the camera sensors are expected to remain same. Unlike the 6.4-inch Mi MIX which was launched as a concept device, the 5.5-inch variant can be made available on a large scale.
Since the company has already confirmed to bring only one flagship per year to the Indian market, we don’t expect the Mi MIX Nano to be launched here, the next flagship from Xiaomi in India will be the Xiaomi Mi 6. As seen with the Mi 5, the company might launch the Mi 6 at the MWC 2017 where the Samsung Galaxy S8 and LG G6 will be unveiled. Stay tuned on Phone Radar for more updates about the upcoming smartphones.
