OnePlus rolls out Android 7.0 Nougat based OxygenOS 4.0 update to OnePlus 3 & 3T
You are reading a story from PhoneRadar.
Android 7.0 Nougat update for Android is still slowly making it’s way to most of the older Android smartphones. As of now, only a handful of smartphone manufacturers has promised for an update. And talking about the smartphones that are running Android 7.0 nougat, the list is quite short. However, OnePlus 3 and the OnePlus 3T smartphones are the next ones to join the list as the company has officially started rolling out the update to these handsets. This is coming just about a month later since the company promised to update these devices. Earlier today, the company’s Co-founder Carl Pei confirmed that the stable version of Android Nougat update is ready and both these handsets will start receiving them starting today.
This Android 7.0 Nougat based OxygenOS 4.0 update will be an OTA update and hence not all devices will be getting them immediately. Depending on the rollout and your region, it may take a while. But it is at least good to know that the update is coming very soon as the rollout has begun. On the flipside, if you can’t wait for the OTA then alternatively you can also install the software update manually. The Nougat beta build is already available to download via OnePlus’ official forum. Do make a note that this beta build is only for the OnePlus 3T smartphone and not for the OnePlus 3. Hence we suggest you make sure you know what you are doing before proceeding with the manual update method.
As mentioned earlier, it may take a while until you receive the OTA for your handset. Hence you if you end up not receiving today or tomorrow, then stay put and keep looking for the update in the settings menu. The complete change log for the update is as follows –
- New Notifications Design
- New Settings Menu Design
- Multi-Window View
- Notification Direct Reply
- Custom DPI Support
As of now, there is no info about the exact availability of the update for the OnePlus 2 smartphone from the company. So if you own one, then you might have to wait longer since now only the OnePlus 3 and 3T smartphones are getting the update. Talking about OnePlus 3T, it is pretty much an updated version of the OnePlus 3 smartphone. The device comes with an improved processor and better front facing camera. While the differences are not all that noticeable, it is still a worthy purchase if you are in the market for a new smartphone. The OnePlus 3T smartphone is capable of taking over some of the high-end devices like the Google Pixel and iPhone 7, etc at this price. With that said, let us know which device you own. Stay tuned to PhoneRadar for more info on this.
