ZTE Axon 7 to Soon Receive the Android 7.0 Nougat Update with DayDream Support

ZTE is one of the very few Chinese smartphone manufacturers to capture decent market share in the Western markets. The ZTE Axon 7 launched in May last year is one of the popular high-end smartphones in 2016. As seen with the other Chinese smartphones, the Axon 7 also packs premium specifications and build quality but is priced half of the other premium smartphone available in the market with similar specifications. The device was launched running on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with MiFavor UI 4.0 on top. While the device is rumored to get the Android 7.0 Nougat update in early 2017, today the company has officially confirmed latest Android update for the Axon 7 during its press event at the CES 2017.
Apart from all the other improvements, the company also confirmed the device to get the Google’s DayDream support for providing much better mobile VR experience. On the other hand, OnePlus has released the Android 7.0 Nougat based Oxygen OS OTA update for the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T smartphones. Though both these devices pack top-notch specifications, the company has included the DayDream support for both the smartphones. The Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) resolution display on both the OnePlus might have made the company to skip the Daydream support. While the Axon 7 with 5.5-inch Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) Super AMOLED display is good enough for providing best VR experience.
The display is also protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass 4 which makes the at least scratch proof during the regular usage. It packs Snapdragon 820 quad-core processor clocked at 2.15GHz and coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The Axon 7 also includes MicroSD card slot for further expansion of storage. On the camera department, there is a 20MP rear camera with PDAF, OIS, F/1.8 aperture. The lens comes protected by Sapphire Glass which OnePlus introduced with the OnePlus 3T. On the front is an 8MP selfie camera for selfies and video calls. It is backed by a 3,250mAh battery that also supports Quick Charge 3.0. There is also a dedicated audio DAC for providing HiFi audio output.
At the CES 2017, the company introduced the mid-range Blade V8 Pro smartphone. While the Blade series smartphones are already sold in the few Asian markets, the Blade V8 Pro will be the first Blade series smartphone to made available in the U.S market. The device sports a 5.5-inch Full HD display with a 2.5D glass laid on the front. It is powered by the Snapdragon 625 octa-core processor coupled with Adreno 505 GPU. The Blade V8 Pro includes 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. It also accepts MicroSD card using the hybrid SIM slot where the user can opt for secondary SIM or a MicroSD card. The USP of the device is its 13MP + 13MP dual lens rear camera and a 3,140mAh battery with Quick Charge 2.0 support.
