HMD Global Launches Nokia 5.1 Plus with HD+ Notch Display & Helio P60
Alongside the Nokia 6.1 Plus, HMD Global also launched the Nokia 5.1 Plus smartphones today in India. Just like the Nokia 6.1 Plus, the new Nokia 5.1 Plus is already on sale in China. On the design front, both the new devices look almost similar. However, the Nokia 5.1 Plus is slightly underpowered when compared to its elder sibling. It also comes with the glass sandwich design sporting 2.5D curved glass on either side of glossy finish polycarbonate frame.
Just like the previous Nokia devices, the new Nokia 5.1 Plus is also an Android One device and runs on Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box with stock Android UI. Talking about the display, the Nokia 5.1 Plus comes with the same 5.8-inch notch display as seen on the Nokia 6.1 Plus. However, the resolution is decreased from Full HD+ to HD+. It comes powered by MediaTek Helio P60 octa-core processor coupled with Mali-G72 GPU.
There is 3GB/4GB of RAM and 32GB/64GB of internal storage. With the MicroSD card slot, the user can further expand the storage up to 256GB. The dual camera setup on the Nokia 5.1 Plus features 13MP and 5MP sensors with f/2.0 aperture, PDAF, and manual mode. For selfies, there is an 8MP front-facing camera with f/2.2 aperture and AI-based beauty and portrait modes. Both the new Nokia phones will be receiving the Android 9.0 Pie in the coming months.
It is backed by a 3,060mAh battery and support up to 5V/2A (10W) charging input. On the rear, we can also spot the circular fingerprint sensor. However, the device can also be unlocked using the face unlock feature. Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, FM Radio, 3.5mm audio jack, and USB Type-C port. The Nokia 5.1 Plus measures 149.5 x 72 x 8.1 mm and weighs 160 grams. The local pricing of the device will be announced in September.
