Meizu to Launch Metal 2 Smartphone & Smartwatch Running on YunOS on August 10th

Last year, Meizu came up with a new Pro series that is said to replace MX Pro series. The company launched the Pro 5 and Pro 6 smartphone under this new banner. Now the company will be launching a new device under the all new E series on August 10th in China. While we expect the company to launch a new smartphone, another leak suggests the company to announce its new smartphone.

Earlier the company came with inWatch Pi that was offered with the MX4 at the time of sale. It also launched the fitness band Bong P2 in January this year. However, last year’s Bong XX came with a display which is missing on this Bong P2. But the upcoming smartwatch from Meizu might come full functionalities. As of now, there is no information about the whether it runs on Android Wear or not, but we expect it come with Alibaba’s YunOS.

Apart from the smartwatch, the company will also launch the Meizu Metal 2 smartphone on that same day. Early 2015, Alibaba invested in Meizu and even Meizu latest entry-level smartphone Meizu M3 also runs on YunOS. The Metal 2 comes with a 5.5-inch 1080p display and might come in two variants with 2GB and 3GB of RAM. It will be powered by Helio P10 SoC and will be backed by a 4000mAh battery.

A couple of weeks back Meizu launched the MX6 smartphone in China. It is the successor to last years MX5 and is priced at 1999 Yuan. The MX6 sports a 5.5-inch Full HD display and includes Helio X20 deca-core processor. The device features 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage along with a MicroSD card slot. In the camera department, there is a 12MP rear camera with PDAF and a 5MP selfie camera on the front. Stay tuned for more updates!
