Earlier, Lenovo has launched the new Z2 Plus smartphone here in India at an event today in New Delhi. When you talk about the device, it is essentially a rebranded version of Zuk Z2 launched in China a couple of months back. Apart from that, nothing much has changed here this time around. Talking about the specs of the device, it sports a 5-inch display on the front which has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 i.e. FHD. The device is powered by a Snapdragon 820 SoC clocked at 2.15 GHz.
This smartphone will be launched in two variants in India, i.e. 3GB RAM variant with 32GB of internal storage and a 4GB RAM variant with 64GB of internal storage. This dual SIM smartphone will support 4G LTE in one sim and 3G for the other one. And unlike other ZUK smartphones, this will have Google Now launcher pre-installed as it ditched Cyanogen OS. Now talking about the pricing and the availability of the device, the Lenovo Z2 Plus is priced at 17,999 INR for 3GB variant & 19,999 INR for 4GB variant and the device will be available exclusively via Amazon India starting from September 25th in four different color options. Earlier: A year after launching the ZUK Z1 in China, Lenovo brought the same device to India in May this year. Though the device is powered by year’s old Snapdragon 801 chipset, the build quality and other specifications made it one of the best budget devices under Rs. 15,000 price range. A few months back, the company also launched Snapdragon 820 powered ZUK Z2 and ZUK Z2 Pro in China. Now, Lenovo confirmed to launch a new device called ZUK Z2 Plus in India.
The rumours suggest the upcoming ZUK Z2 Plus to be same ZUK Z2 that was already launched in China. While the ZUK Z2 comes with 5-inch Full HD display, the ZUK Z2 Pro sports slightly larger 5.2-inch display with the same resolution. Unlike the Z2 Pro, the Z2 doesn’t come with Super AMOLED panel which make the display looks better than the regular IPS panels. The ZUK Z2 Pro comes in two variants with 4GB and 6GB RAM and includes 64GB and 128GB of internal storages respectively.
Talking about the camera, the Z2 Pro sports a 13MP rear camera with PDAF & CAF dual focus along with f/1.8 aperture and 6P lens. For selfies, there is an 8MP front camera with wide-angle lens. If you are looking for fitness data without using a fitness band, then the ZUK Z2 Pro will be a good device to choose. It features heart rate sensor, UV sensors along with few other health sensors. The ZUK Z2 also sports the same camera sensors but misses the health sensors.
Comparison: Lenovo ZUK Z2 vs ZUK Z2 Pro
While in China, the company launched the device with customised ZUI 2.0 based on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. Since the ZUK Z1 came with Cyanogen OS, we aren’t sure whether the company will opt for Android based in-house OS or Cyanogen OS. The devices support dual SIM dual standby and offers 4G LTE connectivity with VoLTE. The ZUK Z2 Pro is backed by a 3,100mAh battery and supports QuickCharge 3.0 for fast charging. Interestingly, the ZUK Z2 with smaller form factor sports bigger 3,500mAh battery. On the front is a physical home button that comes integrated with the fingerprint sensor.
