Microsoft acquires deep learning startup Maluuba, Yoshua Bengio to be the advisor

The American multinational company Microsoft was founded in the year 1975 has been one of the biggest technology company with its headquartered in Redmond, Washington. Now it has acquired deep learning startup Maluuba which focuses on natural language processing, dialogue understanding, machine reading comprehension and general intelligence capabilities like common-sense reasoning, memory, and information seeking behavior.

Previously Microsoft has acquired many and few of them being Skype, Nokia, Aquantive, Mojang and few more. Although there isn’t any information about the terms of the deal, we can expect them to disclose it soon. Moreover, Yoshua Bengio, who is a pioneer in the field of deep learning, has also served as an advisor to Maluuba will be serving as an advisor to Microsoft’s AL division.

Harry Shum, who is the executive vice president of Microsoft has recently performed artificial intelligence and research group wrote in his blog post about few things that are mentioned below. By imagining the future and instead of frantically searching through the organization’s directory emails or even documents to find the top tax-law experts in your company, you can communicate with the AI agent that would leverage the company’s machine comprehension capabilities and respond immediately to your request.

The agents will be answering the queries in a company security compliant manner by having a deeper understanding of the client’s organization’s emails and documentation instead of the traditional documentation that is done by keyword matching. The co-founders of Maluuba, Sam Pasupalak, and Kaheeer wrote that Microsoft is an excellent match for their company. It also provides them the opportunity to deliver our work to the billions of customer and enterprise users which will benefit from intelligent machines.

They also have an ambitious vision of democratizing AI for the empowerment of every person along with the organization. They also said that their new partnership would enable them for quicker advancement towards their vision of making or creating literate machines.
