Gionee to Launch M6, M6 Plus Smartphones in China on 26th July

Gionee M6 certificate to TENAA

New devices are certified or benchmarked every day on various websites and are rumored to launch sooner or later. A few days back, a new smartphone from Chinese Manufacturer Gionee was certified by Chinese Agency TENAA. The product was dubbed as M6, and it was expected to launch soon. Now the company has rolled out press invites for an upcoming event in China, which is scheduled for July 26th.

According to the reports, the company might not just launch the M6 smartphone, but it looks like we will see a ‘Plus’ variant of the same as well. It’s no surprise anyway, as we have been seeing the same trend with other manufacturers as well nowadays, where a Plus sized Phablet variant is being released with the regular option. It kind of makes sense to launch the same device in two sizes, as it gives an option to consumers to choose the size they want and not restrict themselves.

As far as specifications go, this new smartphone is expected to be powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 processor. It is projected to pack 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. The M6 will feature a 5.5-inch AMOLED 1080p display. Considering that the regular variant itself will feature a 5.5-inch display, the Plus variant should be having a 6.5” to 7-inch display. On the camera side, we have a 13-megapixel rear facing shooter and an 8-megapixel front-facing selfie camera. Previously we saw a 7-inch phablet called Mi Max, launched by Xiaomi.

This dual-SIM supported smartphone will be powered by Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box. Also, it is expected to be powered by a 5000 mAh battery. According to sources in Gionee, M6 will carry a new encrypted chip that will solve the privacy issue via hardware and not software. Let’s see what the company comes up here. The device weighs in around 85 grams ad measures at about 84mm in thickness. We still don’t have any information on pricing and availability of the device. However, we will get more information on this in coming days as we get close to the launch. So stay tuned for information as we will update the article.
