Nokia to Soon Launch QWERTY Phone with Dual SIM Support, Might Run on KaiOS

You are reading a story from PhoneRadar.

Earlier this year, Nokia under HMD Global debuted the Android smartphone market by launching the Nokia 3, Nokia 5, and Nokia 6 smartphones. The company also relaunched the 17-years old Nokia 331o with the color display, slimmer body, week-long battery life, and the iconic snake game. While there is also a 3G version of the Nokia 3310, the company will also bring the 4G VoLTE enabled Nokia 3310 in 2018. Now, a new leak from China hints the company to bring the retro Nokia E71 like QWERTY phone.

Last a new Nokia phone with the model number TA-1047 is certified by FCC. It comes with dual SIM support and might include a removable battery. The TA-1047 also offers connectivity options like 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and FM Radio. While there are also few leaks suggesting this to be the 4G LTE variant of the Nokia 3310, the measurements of the device from FCC listing are clearly mismatching with the measurements of the new Nokia 3310.

Based on the leaks, the rumored QWERTY phone might come with a 3.2-inch IPS LCD display with 480 x 480 pixels resolution. Under the hood, the device is mentioned to come powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 212 quad-core processor clocked at 1.3 GHz and Adreno 304 GPU. This is the same processor to also powers the entry-level Nokia 2 smartphone. However, we expect this upcoming QWERTY phone from HMD Global to use Qualcomm 205 processor, which was specially designed for the feature phones.

Instead of the in-house Nokia Series 30+‎, the upcoming Nokia QWERTY phone is said to be running on KaiOS, which is based on Firefox mobile OS. In India, we already have 4G VoLTE enabled feature phones like Intex Turbo+ 4G and JioPhone running on KaiOS. However, the KaiOS lacks the support for major apps like WhatsApp and Telegram. Even Reliance Jio is rumored to ditch KaiOS in favor of Android Go. Stay tuned on Phone Radar for more details!
