Earlier this month, Qualcomm made few new announcements at the Snapdragon Technology Summit held in Hawaii. The company announced the all-new Snapdragon 845 Mobile Platform with Kryo 385 CPU and Adreno 640 GPU. However, the major announcement is the launch of world’s first Gigabit LTE laptop powered bySnapdragon 835 Mobile PC Platform. The Snapdragon 835 which can be found inside a majority of the flagship smartphones in 2017 will now power the Windows 10 laptops.
While Xiaomi officially confirmed to launch its next flagship smartphone with Snapdragon 845 Mobile Platform, the latest report suggests the company might also launch the laptops with Snapdragon Mobile PC Platform. Xiaomi unveiled its first ever laptop called Mi Notebook Air in 2016 in China. Later, it came with the upgraded Mi Notebook Air with a 4G SIM card slot. In 2018, we will be seeing the Mi Notebook with Snapdragon 835 Mobile PC Platform and Windows 10.
The current-gen Xiaomi laptops are powered by Intel processors. While the availability of the Mi Notebook is only limited to China, there are few resellers who ship them for free to the international destinations. With the day-long battery life and Gigabit LTE connection, the Xiaomi laptops might gain some popularity among the thousands of other laptops. With the affordable data plans in India, we expect Xiaomi to bring their upcoming laptops to the Indian market.
At the Snapdragon Technology Summit, Asus launched the NovaGo laptop with Snapdragon 835 Mobile PC Platform and 8GB of RAM. According to the company, the Asus NovaGo will be lasting up to 22 hours on a single charge and over 30 days on modern standby. Even HP also showcased the Snapdragon 835 powered HP Envy x2 2-in-1 laptop that measures just 6.9mm in thickness. We expect to see more laptops with Snapdragon 835 Mobile PC Platform at the CES 2018.
